Lä ("Shelter") draws on the site's history and atmosphere, offering a quiet, contemplative pavilion in Örebro Stadpark. A floating roof on slender columns creates a bodily sense of shelter, echoing past pavilions and the movement of the Svartån river. Two stone-clad volumes open toward each other, forming a flexible space transitioning from an active café side to a calm waterfront seating area. The surrounding landscape reimagines the park as a resilient, rewilded garden built from reclaimed demolition materials, like concrete, gravel, brick, and timber, supporting pollinators and biodiversity through varied microclimates. Facades reuse local stone as aggregate in a cast material we call Stratacast, minimizing transport and new resources while giving old materials renewed purpose. Conceived as an act of urban repair, the project reconciles Punta Pacífica's fragmented urban fabric through two distinct faces: an active commercial edge to the west, and a civic museum threshold to the east. This Janus-faced duality mediating commerce and culture, density and openness is sustained throughout, using the site's natural topography to lift the museum one level above street-level retail, meeting the city via a generous public plaza. Clad in limestone, the building reads as stereotomic and monumental despite its modest scale, with deep carved openings providing passive shading in the tropical climate. Toward the plaza, the facade opens between slender columns, softening into an eight-metre-high stoa that anchors a continuous public arrival hall. Magasin 7 is proposed as an architectural framework for the development of Västerport, treating time as an active dimension in the architecture: a robust, adaptable structure that grows alongside the area's gradual transformation. The project unfolds across two phases. Block A establishes the district cooling plant as a visible anchor to the west, together with a Energy Park, rooftop basketball court and an arboretum for Västerport, providing early activation, and a temporary green buffer toward the construction site on the harbor. Block B transforms the existing Eternit Pipe Factory into offices and public functions: a rational 17-metre-wide volume with flexible office floors and a ground floor housing restaurant, gym, and entrance linked by an open stair. The original concrete structure is preserved and reinforced, complemented by new timber additions and reused steel, corrugated sheeting, and crushed concrete. A tempered climatic buffer with integrated solar panels regulates energy and daylight, while blue-green outdoor surfaces manage stormwater and improve the microclimate with a flexible, industrially rooted project built to carry change over time. Veven & Rammen reimagines the museum as civic infrastructure, transforming a former parking lot at Leüthenhaven into a cultural quarter within Trondheim's historic center. Two contrasting volumes: a transparent public pavilion and a robust workshop building, frame a new civic plaza alongside Trondheim Theatre and Sukkerhuset, while the existing underground parking is repurposed into a double-height exhibition space below. A historic grid, echoing Cicignon's 17th-century city plan and the site's past as garden plots, structures both building and landscape, unifying topography, program, and memory. The glass pavilion houses café, shop, library, and foyer beneath a hovering timber roof, while the workshop building opens conservation and production spaces to public view, fostering learning and collaboration. Sustainability drives the design: the existing concrete structure is preserved and reinforced rather than demolished, a lightweight timber addition minimizes embodied carbon, and displacement ventilation, thermal mass, and solar panels ensure long-term climatic resilience. Vis Veg is a visitor center that carries the landscape within its very being, revealing itself gently in the road's bend before its overhang guides visitors toward the first steps of the trail, where architecture releases its hold and the mountain paths take over. A long, prominent volume divides the site to shield the southern landscape experience from parking-area traffic, its footprint set on already-cultivated ground. Dry-stone walling and slate cladding evoke the massive rock formations of the nearby Preikestolen.The building wraps Preikeplassen, a reused, sun-filled square offering orientation before the hike and a place to dine after, shaped by excavated soil rising toward the main entrance. Inside, an open plan organizes kiosk, shop, information, restaurant, and support functions around a rear core for efficient, low-staffing operation. Sustainability comes through the building's embedded mass, timber structure, low-carbon concrete, local slate, and reuse of existing outdoor infrastructure.Competition, 2024




















 


The new visitor center at Astruptunet serves as a cultural anchor conveying the legacy of Nikolai and Engel Astrup, its architecture modestly deferring to the surrounding cultural landscape. From the county road, the building presents as a prominent, elongated volume integrated into the terrain; approaching Astruptunet, it dissolves into a loosely clustered, turf-roofed structure echoing the historic farmstead. The main entrance aligns with the road level, while an eastern ramp resolves the height difference and connects to the lakeside path, completing a circular route while keeping views of Jølstravatnet unbroken. Excavated soil shapes turf embankments and a new path, while large stones mark the route between farmstead and center. The roof forms a paved, planted "tun" for outdoor programming. Inside, a flexible timber-framed hall houses café and exhibition functions, served by a rear core, with basement galleries reached via stair and lift. Largely embedded below grade, the building achieves strong thermal performance naturally, combining timber, low-carbon concrete, local stone, and glass with hybrid ventilation and blue-green roofs for a durable, timeless expression. Sited near Drøbak in Frogn Kommune, this cabin proposal moved away from an initial idea of a large rectangular volume on the flat part of the plot, instead receding to open up a generous outdoor space with optimal solar exposure. An elongated footprint follows the narrower sections of the terrain, maximizing panoramic views for its occupants. The design is organized into two distinct wings: a slender volume for private bedrooms, and a second wing housing communal living areas. By deliberately reducing its footprint, the project challenges conventional assumptions about cabin size, favoring a closer, more deliberate engagement with the surrounding landscape over sheer square footage.Commission, 2022


 


















Inspired by Domkirkeodden's open-air museum and rich collections, this FERD unifies the site's existing outdoor exhibits into one coherent whole. A timeless, elongated "longhouse" form gathers a compact program beneath a single sweeping roof, resting above a horizontal window band that ties interior galleries to the surrounding landscape and Lake Mjøsa. The building's curved walls and low, terraced profile, built on existing natural-stone retaining walls, sit sensitively along the ridge in dialogue with Storhamarlåven and Hamardomen, echoing traditional Norwegian building craft. An announced entrance opens onto a shared plaza linking the museum, barn, and cathedral ruins, leading visitors past shop and reception through curving walls toward flexible exhibition halls, a double-height hall, the Crypt, and multimedia spaces. Public and operational flows are clearly separated, with loading and staff access to the east. Constructed from glulam and CLT with slate roofing and stone cladding, the museum emphasizes durability, low-carbon materials, passive solar control, and geothermal heating for long-term sustainability.Competition, 2021


















Commissioned for a site in Fiskvikveien, Stjørdal, this cabin reworks an existing foundation into a compact, terrain-hugging volume. A steeply pitched roof sweeps low toward the ground on one side, its deep overhang shading a connecting outdoor corridor. A new concrete retaining wall establishes a clear pathway leading visitors toward the entrance. Inside, the plan gathers open living, dining, and kitchen space around a central stair core, with bedrooms arranged to the side. The vaulted interior is lined in dark timber, its exposed glulam roof structure left visible overhead, while large, glazed openings frame views of the surrounding birch forest. InTransit responds to the paradox of EU freedom of movement colliding with exclusion from urban housing markets, proposing a pan-European network of hotels built directly above train platforms in EU-27 capital cities: a prototype developed above the railway platforms at Gare du Nord, Brussels. Conceived as the EU's first social housing project, the hotel operates through annual membership rather than permanent ownership, granting access to any location in the network while capping stays - according to EU rules - at three months to prevent permanent settlement and sustain perpetual circulation. Each hotel accommodates three temporalities: a lounge for transit between departures, a coworking space for daily use, and dwelling units for longer stays. By refusing property ownership in favor of shared use, the project reimagines home as untethered from any single nation or place, proposing architecture as a new form of European public institution: a direct response to housing precarity among the continent's increasingly mobile workforce. Forming Welfare engages the architectural legacy of the Danish welfare state, drawing on 20th-century housing traditions of sober, monumental city blocks softened by expressive brick detailing at openings and junctions. The project proposes an urban residential situation for the elderly, organized around an anatomical logic: intellectual exercise programmed above, physical exercise below, that extends into the building's formal and structural expression. The austere facade features strict, repetitive openings articulated by precast concrete elements, each joint marked by a roughly cast "knot" at the junction of vertical and horizontal members. This material differentiation, smooth columns against rough joints, breaks down the monumental order of the pilasters and disrupts a purely trabeated reading of the facade, drawing attention instead to the joint itself. The result is a tectonic expression read almost as human anatomy, as if bone and cartilage were woven together in concrete, giving the building a humane, embodied presence. 9th Semester, 2019
















































Designed for a competition seeking innovative, environmentally friendly service huts along Gudbrandsdalsleden, this proposal gives hikers access to clean water, toilets, phone charging, and WIFI, while protecting the surrounding nature from wear and littering. Built to withstand harsh weather and operate fully off-grid, the hut is deployable across varied terrain. The design draws on local log-building traditions, using a log construction that naturally separates toilet facilities from covered seating areas. Diagonal log elements double as structural struts, extending outward to support a large, sheltering roof: a simple, resourceful logic that ties construction directly to program while keeping the intervention lightweight and fitting within the landscape.Competition, 2018 X Herman Hille

























 


Built with minimal resources for a festival in Luster, at the far end of Sognefjorden, this stage was designed to span widely enough to avoid obstructing views of the landscape or the performers themselves. The structure draws on Grindverk, a traditional Norwegian timber-framing method historically used in Vestland County for raw, uninsulated buildings like barns (løe) and boathouses (naust), whose truss system allows for large, unobstructed spans. Left open at the back, the stage frames the fjord itself as a backdrop, blending naturally into the row of existing boathouses along the water. Simple, vernacular, and unpretentious, the structure has proven so well loved by the local community that it still stands today, long after the festival it was built for.Commission, 2019
















































 


Developed alongside a theoretical study of "The Primitive Hut", architecture's origin as a memory of a lost state rather than a lost object, this project responds to Vinderup, an archetypal Danish train town whose archive of historical documents and artefacts has outgrown its space. Rather than expanding within the city, the proposal builds an archive of the city outside itself, observing it from without. Three buildings: a library, a museum, and a watchtower, sit as isolated fragments across the flat surrounding topography, each autonomous in character yet bound together through a shared analogous journey of experiencing the city. The library houses literary material, the museum exhibits objects and paintings, and the watchtower offers a point of external observation. Together, this dislocation of program and place forms a distinct constellation that, like the industrial park, the farms, or the city center itself, articulates a new and complete image of place. 8th Semester, 2018





































 


Competition for a bird watching tower in Værengene, with its unique nature. The design is influenced by the expansive flat wetland geography with its long horizon and grey sky. A place of the same atmospheric character which grows up from the horizons encounter with the soft and diffuse skylight. A concrete plinth demarcates a new ground in a field of water and mineral deposits, with a robust timber skeleton to resist the extreme weather conditions, cladded with polycarbonate. The elevation in the concrete plinth creates a natural seating with pivoting openings to the landscape. The half floor on 1st floor provides a sheltering function in extreme weathers, and the top floor a panoramic view over Værengene’s rich birdlife. The structural composition resembles the low fog layers coming from the moist ground and the tree crowns that protrude out in order to create a camouflaged structure.Competition, 2018 X Noah Vagle, Pelle Juul Carlsen
